An evaluation of intensive interactive teaching with pupils with very severe learning difficultiesMoray House College of Education, Edinburgh
Curriculum Development Officer, Lothian Region Staff at a Scottish School for pupils with severe learning difficulties decided to move towards an intensive interactive teaching approach, based on research into normal mother-infant interaction. An evaluation used videotape analysis to measure the progress of six pupils over one school year. Results were encouraging. Illustrations are given of developments in individual pupils and of staff views concerning the value of the interactive teaching approach.
