Creating an environment to facilitate communication growth within a language unit

Claire Withey

Churchill Gardens Language Unit

An environment is described which aims to facilitate language growth within a language unit. One child's progress is recorded with discussion of which of the child's needs could be met by this environment. It is proposed that the significant progress made by the child is largely due to the interactive child-centred environment created within the classroom.
