Dawn House School, Helmsely Road, Rainworth, Notts NG21 ODQ, UK The following is an account of a case study involving a group of Year 8 pupils, all of whom presented with specific language and literacy difficulties. Phonological awareness and reading skills were taught by two teachers and a speech and language therapist working together. The pupils were assessed at the beginning and end of the project, and their progress is discussed. The development of one of the assessment tools employed is also described.
